Synyster Gates Speaks With Terra Chile.

Synyster Gates recently spoke with Terra.CL about the current state of the band including Arin, the tour and “Nightmare.” You can check out the roughly translated version below.

SANTIAGO .- Three years passed before Avenged Sevenfold, one of the glories of American rock today, back to South America. And much water has passed under the bridge, without going any further, the substantial loss of one of its members, James “The Rev” Sullivan, who died in December 2009. After that they were joined by Mike Portnoy on drums, who left behind no less than an entire career with Dream Theater to help them get their fifth album “Nightmare” in 2010. The album was a critical and commercial success, reflected the fan support at a difficult time and took the stand for a world tour. Without going any further, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and in its first week selling 160 000 copies were dispatched.

Now with new drummer Arin Ilejay, which came after the departure of Portnoy, dropped again in Santiago, with a show scheduled for April 12 at the Teatro Caupolicán. The guitarist Synyster Gates speaks with Terra about this reunion and a bit of everything that has happened to the band in recent times. “Syn” says what they are living with “Nightmare”: “We are very proud of what we accomplished on the disc, do not say how it has been in sales and all those things but the content. It’s aimed at our fans, to serve as a kind of testament to all the feelings that brings about the loss of Jimmy (“The Rev”). Although it sounds clichĂ©, we feel it is our best record, for all that has strong emotional factor. ”

Says guitarist, Mike Portnoy’s help was instrumental in this process: “The work we did was great, was one of the pillars so that we will recover as a band after that blow. The tour was great, no need to say what a great drummer he is and also a great person who brings a lot of encouragement to those around you. ”

And on the new element, drummer Arin Ilejay, Syn details: “He joined for a U.S. tour and proved to be great, great drummer and a lot to give, he is very young and has a lot ahead. Has hit it off perfectly with the other members and I think that he is right for the position. ”

The music promises to leave everything in this new look: “The last time was great, we were so crazy that we even took out the other shows out of the South American tour after going through there. We are very happy to be back and I know nobody will get anything that is below their expectations, all will overcome. “
