Metal Talk has posted a review of Avenged Sevenfold’s headlining performance at Download Festival 2018.
Avenged Sevenfold were simply sensational and completely worthy of the UK’s premiere headlining slot. Theirs was a performance that was literally on fire, as you can see from our pictures here.
Headlining Download for the second time in their career, their setlist was specially adapted for this show with ‘Eternal Rest’ and ‘MIA’ both included and they utilised their special ‘The Stage’ show.
The Californians honoured the late Anthony Bourdain, by saying he was an inspirational person who united people through food and that we have more that unites us than divides us, before covering Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’, which was also dedicated to A7X’s late drummer Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan and to their late roadie Shirt.
Avenged Sevenfold were extremely well received with the gigantic crowd right behind them and they closed with ‘Unholy Confessions’, fireworks and mega applause after frontman M Shadows said that “England was the first place to embrace A7X.”
