In the new issue of Metal Hammer Germany an interview with M Shadows and Zacky Vengeance is published and covers topics like the difference between “Hail To The King” and “Nightmare,” if the band feel pressure after obtaining a #1 album with “Nightmare,” British Metal Hammer announcing Avenged Sevenfold as the most important metal band of our generation, taking time off, writing without Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan and if he would like the new album, being continuously compared to bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica, being huge in the US but not Germany and more. Metal Hammer Germany: James wrote a lot of your songs. Was it hard to replace his songwriting skills?
M Shadows: James wrote fantastic songs. But the media really blew this whole subject up. Per record, there were maybe two or three songs that he had written. Though, of course, we said to ourselves after the first seven songs of the new record: “Man, it’d be amazing if we had three more songs from James.” But we didn’t.
