Deathbat News' Birmingham, AL Rockstar Uproar Update! - Avenged Sevenfold

Deathbat News' Birmingham, AL Rockstar Uproar Update!

Before I go into anything I would like to take the time out to thank Mr. Reese, Mr. Oakes, Ms. Vantress and everyone at the Rockstar Uproar tour, the fine folks at Warner Brothers Records and The Collective, and last but surely not least the wonderful men in Avenged Sevenfold and their crew for an absolutely wonderful and outstanding two days.

I had the pleasure of attending the Pre-Uproar Cookout on September 2nd where all of the Uproar bands came out to grab some BBQ with local contest and radio station winners. Everyone in attendance was having a blast and when Avenged Sevenfold showed up to the party it got that much better for all of the fans. The guys took the time out to sign anything brought to them, take pictures and chat with all of the fans up until it was time for them to head back out and the party to come to an end.

Once evening came around, along with the ridiculous heat on September 3rd, I headed from my hotel to the Verizon Wireless Music Center to check out the scene of the first annual Rockstar Uproar tour. I had to make a quick stop at the Rockstar VIP Lounge for some shade and a nice cup of refreshing Coca Cola when I ran into DBN readers Amber V, April, Devan, and Dray. Such an awesome and sweet group of ladies!

After the VIP Lounge I was making my way up to a location I had chosen to meet with some Deathbat News readers when I saw three Avenged fan’s, Hailey K, Haleigh B and Kenneth hanging out with a hand drawn image of Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan’s death bat and I had to get a picture of it! You can check it out below and it was hand drawn by Kenneth B.

I picked a location and tweeted where I was and in just a few minutes Deathbat News readers were showing up! I’d love to give a big shout out to Jon T, Hunter, Becca and their group of friends as well as Bethany, Erin (check out their home-made “Forever” jerseys below!) and one of the coolest moms ever for coming to hang out and speak with me! All of you guys were so amazing and it was such a pleasure meeting you! Hunter, don’t let me down on that “Brompton Cocktail” challenge!

The sun slowly began setting giving relief to everyone in attendance as a small breeze picked up while people started to make their way into the main Amphitheater for the main stage bands to begin. My mom showed up and we headed out to the VIP Lounge to enjoy a refreshing drink before we headed to our seats to catch half of Stone Sours set. In due time Avenged Sevenfold were hitting the stage and as much as I would love to write a review on this show I want you all to see it for yourself and draw your own conclusions on it. For me, it was the most intense and emotional set I’ve ever experienced with this band and I have a feeling it’ll be the same for you all. I said last night that they killed it and I stand by that today. You do not want to miss this show! If you don’t have tickets and the tour is coming through your area make sure you head here and get some!

I’d like to take the time out right now to thank Amber, April, Devan and Dray for letting me hang out in the front row for a few songs after Avenged Sevenfold had gone on before I headed back up to my seat! Also, to Smedg who recognized me and chatted with me for a bit before the set! And, to all of the amazing Avenged Sevenfold fans and Deathbat News readers that took the time out of their experience to come talk with me it was such a pleasure meeting you all. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, you fans are the reason I do this and the reason that Deathbat News has become what it is today. Thank YOU from the bottom of my heart.

In closing I’ll leave you guys with a picture of the the amphitheater during Avenged Sevenfold’s “So Far Away” performance.
