It was an experience for 9,000 passionate fans. During Avenged Sevenfold’s 55-minute stint on the big stage, two 13-year-old buddies next to me were vigorously exercising their aggressions. A7X thrilled the diehards with a loud, in-your-face sound that enveloped the ears.
The band, led by singer M. Shadows, is also coming off a new No. 1 disc, Nightmare. The stage decor – gothic gates, skeleton heads with wings, pillars and oodles of pyro – plays off the Nightmare CD cover. The show paid tribute to their late drummer James Sullivan. Former Dream Theater pounder Mike Portnoy potently filled in on the skins.
Thanks Noel for letting me know this would be up!
