Avenged Sevenfold started behind a black curtain, with pyrotechnics and flame throwers backlighting their first song. I haven’t heard a band yet that’s been greeted by more noise from their fans. All the pyrotechnics, mist and other lights made for one hell of a light show. The way the lights danced around the giant winged skull hanging from the rear of the stage made it look like it was laughing. With a tight time limit on their show Avenged Sevenfold had to cut songs from their list to fit in as much as they could. But they did take the time to tell us how special Montreal has become to them over the years, before finishing their set with a few specials songs just for us. I’ll never forget this show, ever.
