Bergen Pulse have put a small piece on Avenged Sevenfold’s performance at Bergen Calling 2011.
After all, most people came to see Avenged Sevenfold on this day [Sunday]..
Finally, what all have been waiting for – Avenged Sevenfold. The scene is in the meantime turned into the entrance of a cemetery, and a small ton flame throwers are also in place.
A unanimous roar from 4000-5000 throats when vocalist M. Shadows climbed up on a podium and the band launches with “Nightmare”. Pop-Metal is probably the term that fits the musical expression best. Melodic and slightly breezy with organ and some strings left on the tape. Neither innovative or particularly original. But it works and sounds really good. A dose of Maiden, a dash of Metallica and some power ballads. “So Far Away” is dedicated to the band’s drummer The Rev, who died a few years ago. Much is taken from the band’s latest album “Nightmare”, which came last year, but the end is also older hits like “Unholy Confessions” and “Little Piece Of Heaven”.
