Devils Gate Media has posted a review of Avenged Sevenfold’s “The Stage World Tour” stop in Cardiff, Wales.
Avenged Sevenfold open with “The Stage” from the latest album, and it’s clear that they mean business. First M. Shadows, and then each of Zacky Vengeance, Synyster Gates, and Johnny Christ walk down the run way laid out in front of the stage to get close to the fans, posing, smiling, encouraging, and lapping up the adoration of the young front rows. “Afterlife” is followed by “Hail To The King”, and in those three songs you can see why Avenged Sevenfold are seen as the band to take on the mantle of Festival headliners, as each song has an entirely different feel, creating a varied and dynamic set. The twin guitars often evoke Maiden-esque harmonies, but then in another song, move back to metal core and later, epic riffs. If one song doesn’t hold your attention, the next one grips you by the throat.
Tonight showed glimpsed of the future of the music we love. Bands that can go on to both mainstream appeal (even play on Ken Bruce’s record of the week) and also catch the attention of youngsters looking for posters of “hot” musicians for their bedroom walls. Spectacular staging, brilliant musicianship, catchy hook-laden songs, and energy thrown back at them by a capacity crowd. Cardiff loved it!
