John Reese (Taste of Chaos/Uproar/Mayhem – Founder) recently spoke with Denver’s Examiner and mentioned Avenged Sevenfold playing both Uproar and Mayhem Festivals and how they’ve been one of few rock/metal bands from those tours to go on and become arena headliners.
Examiner: When you put it that way, I’m hard-pressed to think of any rock or metal bands that have really risen to the top in the last few years other than Five Finger Death Punch.
John: Over the last five or six years there’s really two. Five Finger for sure, and maybe Volbeat. But other than that… and we’ve tried. We’ve profiled so many groups and had so many bands on and yes they’ve gained notoriety and gained fans and so forth, but there’s really nobody that’s become an arena headliner. Avenged Sevenfold has gone there, Slipknot, but there’s not a lot of others that aren’t from the mid-90’s that are headlining for more than 5,000 people. Five Finger is a great story for sure, but we need more of those stories.
